Event : The national celebration of the day of rebellion against the occupier will be held on April 26 in the sports hall of the Miran Jarac Elementary School in Črnomlje. The screenwriter and director of the event, Tomaž Letnar, designed the ceremony in such a way that its idea is best summed up by the statement of the member of the allied mission in White Krajina, American officer George Wuchinich: "A nation that fights with a book in hand as resolutely as with a rifle cannot be defeated. The Slovenian National Theater was founded in Črnomlje, in which many texts from the Slovenian and world drama treasury were performed, thus confirming the importance of high culture for the national consciousness in the fight against the occupier. The rescue of allied pilots from the hands of the enemy and allied aid to the partisans via the airports in the White Krajina confirm that the partisans were part of the global anti-fascist coalition. With his presence, together with Canadian Major William Jones, Wuchinich gave international legitimacy to the Slovenian National Liberation Council, the supreme representative and legislative body in the Slovenian national liberation struggle, which was formed in Črnomlje. These are the three fundamental foundations of the play, which after the tragic opening scene, which illustrates the suffering in battle, turns into an uplifting and bright day of culture and important political decisions for the formation of a state in the liberated White Land. In addition to the dancers of the Ljubljana Opera and Ballet and the actors of SNG Drama Ljubljana, excellent music and dance groups from the local environment will participate in the celebration. The play avoids interpretations and through credible and professionally documented quotes from the participants of the struggle, depicts the turning points and with its faith in a better and more beautiful world appeals to us even in the difficult present.
The speaker of the ceremony will be the President of the National Council, Marko Lotrič. (from TV Slovenia)
