44.5E Arabsat 7F (Nimiq 1)

Ciao a tutti,

Arabsat has bought the former canadian satellite Nimiq 1 which was originally located at 91W and has opened a new slot at 44.5E renaming the satellite in Arabsat 7F where tests are being run on several frequencies. Be aware that circular polarisation is being used so with a common linear LNB there is 3dB loss. Anyway, signals at least in Greece (www.sdtv.gr/smf/index.php/topic,33786) are very strong and thus can be locked even on small dishes. How about the situation in Italia ?

So it looks like to have excellent coverage even in western parts of North Africa besides the Middle East Region.

So it's like the Nilesat and the other Arabsat satellites.

In Sicilia you might not see any difference in between the several Nilesats and Arabsats but the further North you move, the bigger the differences are. That's why a separate examination of Arabsat 7F's coverage is of interest.
